A long, fun weekend

He catches a fish!
Not so much into actually touching the fish.
Outside the "Axelrod Dr" street sign - the Axelrods were the first to build on the road.
Mike's Pop-Pop Len designed the house, which he named "Len's Leisure Lodge."

This weekend, Mike took Hank down to his family's cabin (in Maine, they call them "camps") near Winthrop, which is a little over an hour away from where we live. Mike went to the cabin every summer as a kid and has very fond memories of spending time with this grandparents and family there. Hank was at the cabin once before, when he was 11 months old. We were on only there for a couple of days because he had a seizure while we were there and we had to cut the trip short and head back to Omaha (it turned out to be a febrile seizure, which is harmless - google it to learn more).

Anyway, words cannot describe how much fun Hank had at the cabin, but I'll try. He was so friggin excited the day before they left, it was all he could talk about. On Saturday they packed their clothes, fishing gear, sleeping bags, and snacks (of course) and were on their way. Mike said that he had never seen Hank so excited. He loved every minute of it, and they managed to catch a few fish as well. The high point was watching the men put the dock into the water on Saturday evening. Sadly, the weekend coudn't last forever and he sobbed and threw a fit when Mike put the canoe back in the boathouse this morning. When they got back today, I asked him what his favorite part of the trip was. "Sleeping in the sleeping bag!" he replied.

Georgie and I hung out here at home, and had a relaxing, quiet weekend. Hank and I have been getting on each other's nerves lately so it was a good break for both of us. I was happy to see him today and he was happy to see me - I think we need that separation every once in awhile to appreciate each other and recharge. Plus, it was nice to spend time alone with Georgie and to enjoy his little personality, which is coming out more and more.

Oh, and a pediatrician update: we got into Happytime Pediatrics! And I didn't even have to sleep with anyone! I called Crappytime Pediatrics and had the records transferred. So that fiasco is over.

Oh so fun. Hank will never forget that trip.

Congrats on the new pediatrician! There's nothing better.
