Catholic education in action

Henry gave this to me the other day. He made it after he did his homework and asked me how he could get it to Jesus. For those of you who can't decipher his handwriting and phonetic spelling, it says, "Dear Jesus, I love you. Help me to be kind to others. I am so sorry that you died on the cross. From, Henry." Then of course came Henry's ultra-practical questions about how they nailed pegs into Jesus's hands, how could that alone hold his weight on the cross, did he die from bleeding too much, etc. I deferred all questions to his teacher. That left me with the quandry of how to get the letter to Jesus. So I borrowed a line from Sarah Silverman and explained that "Jesus is magic." He put the letter in a special place in his room, and the next morning the letter was gone. (And yes, I saved it. Prepare to see it brought out at his high school graduation party).

Remember when I was all about that stuff around his age? I had prayer cards hung up all over my bulletin board and 3 different sets of rosary beads. Ha ha!

I often wondered how the nails held Jesus up too.
