These pictures are actually from two weekends ago - went up this past weekend as well. We closed about 2 weeks later than expected due to an issue with the well. No big deal, the sellers had to bring the well up to code before we could close. And in the Hayward area, it's hard to find a guy to work on a well during hunting season. It's kind of like the wild west up there.
We have most of the stuff moved in! We were able to scrounge up a lot of our "extra" stuff from our house and also picked up things from garage sales. My parents were willing to unload some of their extra pots and pans and lamps, etc. so we were able to get the cabin pretty furnished without buying a ton of stuff new (plus, we bought the sellers' furniture as part of the deal, so we didn't have to get big items like sofas or beds or anything.)
Henry outside - we made the boys put on orange blazes. With hunting season upon us, you can't be too safe.
On the tire swing
There are tons of birch trees up there, and Geroge enjoyed peeling the bark and using it for paper.
Rex loved the cabin, but I forgot his kennel and assumed that he would be fine just sleeping in his bed in our room. He had a mini-panic attack and ended up sleeping with Mike and I in our bed. It was like having a newborn again.
The creek on the edge of our property, looking into the lake... it was really low the first weekend we were up, but this past weekend it was moving much more quickly.
Cell phone picture = not the greatest quality.
Sunrise over Whitefish Lake. We face due east, so we get the sunrise view. And those of you who know my children know that they get up literally at the crack of dawn, so (fortunately?) we'll be seeing lots of sunrises.
We made a little hillbilly fire pit with rocks from the creek.
And smores. Because really, what good is a cabin without smores?
