I Voted!

I voted today, and it was not quite the ordeal I expected. For days (even weeks) now, the talking heads on TV have been repeating over and over again about how LONG the lines will be on election day. How everyone MUST VOTE EARLY to AVOID THE HORRIBLY LONG LINES. Matt Lauer warned us all again this morning TO EXPECT WAIT TIMES OF AN HOUR OR MORE. The anxiety! The horror! I must be prepared! Why didn't I vote early? Mike did, he was so smart! Silly, silly, Ang. Oh, why didn't I listen?

So this morning I prepped my diaper bag for my trip to the polls. Extra binkys, an arsenal of snacks, dress Georgie in layers since WE COULD BE WAITING A LONG TIME! I left nothing to chance. I would have schlepped the PacknPlay in there if I needed to. I was going to vote, darn it, and long lines were NOT going to stop me.

So imagine my disappointment when I casually walked into my polling place, found my ward on the handy-dandy map on the wall, was pointed to a line with no one in it by not one but three election volunteers. I walked up to the table, gave them my name, received a ballot from one of the gazillion election volunteers, and voted. The only thing that took awhile was fielding compliments from the election workers on Georgie's Snack Trap cup. Seriously, I have spent more time filling my car up with gas.

But I voted, and hopefully tonight it will all be OVER! But what will Mike watch on TV? And that is a post for another day.

You're lucky you didn't have to wait. I only did for 45 minutes but 15 of that was because I was paranoid about the lines I showed up before the polls opened. Glad to hear it was a success! I agree, I'm ready for everything to be over and have the country move on now!

Yup...that's voting in small town Wisconsin. I went after dinner tonight and it took about 10 minutes...and I wasn't even pre-registered. Gotta love it.

Your pics in the last few posts are great. Such handsome boys. Sounds like you are settling in to your new home, routine, etc. very well. I look forward to your posts once your new job starts. That's a career path I wish I had pursued.
