Well, I made it back from Iowa but managed to get a ticket on the way in Owatonna, Minnesota... and it wasn't even a speeding ticket. A speeding ticket would have been more worthwhile - I got a ticket for "failure to obey a traffic control device." Doesn't that sound naughty? I apparently, according to the ticketing officer, "did not come to a complete stop before making a right-hand turn on a red light." Ummmm, okaaaay... of all the things to get pulled over for, that's what I got? What about the maniacs speeding by me on the interstate doing 90mph? Seriously.
But I digress. Anyway, I was coming off the interstate, turned onto the bridge, and then made a right into the Burger King parking lot because Henry had insisted that "I gotta go pee really bad!" So naturally when I stop the car in the parking lot and the police officer leans into the car, I start explaining by saying, "Well, my son had to use the restroom..." Henry, who must have been scared by the thought of his mother being hauled to jail like a bad guy, said, "No, I don't have to go pee!" Gee, thanks Henry! He asked me if I knew why he pulled me over, and I honestly had no clue. I thought maybe I had a taillight out or something. I mean, has anyone else had a 5 year old whining he has to pee and a 2 year old whining for lunch at hour 3 of a 5+ hour car trip? It's a miracle I even slowed down for the light.
So anyway, that's my exciting news. No more roll n' go's at red lights before making a right - I will be making a COMPLETE stop from now on. I promise.

Shame on you! What kind of a message are you sending your children by not obeying the traffic laws???
:)
I got a ticket for that same thing in high school- I thought it was pretty stupid. I wish Henry would have peed on the cop- that would have shown him!
