While in Des Moines, we went to my Aunt K and Uncle C's farm to hang out for awhile, and the boys got to take a tractor ride with Grampy. What Iowa adventure would be complete without the obligatory tractor ride?
I love this time of year, and especially this year since the weather has been so fantastic. Our kitchen is filled with fresh veggies; some from our garden, some from our CSA share, some from the farmer's market... I am making loads of pesto today with all the basil we have since I found a way that I can freeze it. We are going to go into major withdrawal this winter when the produce sucks, so I'm trying to can and freeze as much as possible. Just call me Martha friggin' Stewart!
This is kind of our last week of summer - Mike went back to work on his regular contract today, and school starts next week. Henry is getting excited (and a wee bit anxious) about kindergarten and riding the bus. We gathered all of his school supplies over the weekend and I reorganized his closet with his new uniform shirts and pants. What are Georgie and I going to do with ourselves all day without our buddy Henry?
