Last week Georgie and I took a trip with our Moms' Club friends to the Eau Claire orchards. Georgie enjoyed picking up rotting apples from the ground and putting them in his bag. He was adamant that he was going to eat them, but I ended up buying a bag of apples from the orchard's little store and swapping out the bag of rotten ones. I'm pretty cool about letting him get away with some disgusting stuff, but even I have to draw the line somewhere. I made crock-pot applesauce with the apples which was very yummy, although my children didn't think so. They prefer the little individual-serving size cups of Musselman's applesauce. And this is why I don't feel guilty about not making more things from scratch.
This weekend Georgie and I drove down to Des Moines for my sister's bridal shower! It was really fun and we also got to see her new house, which was awesome. It was weird being there without Henry, but he had school, soccer, and team pictures for soccer so we thought it best if he and Mike stayed home. On the way down I noticed that my car's DVD player display was reading "DVD JAM." Upon closer inspection I discovered that three CDs were stuffed into the single-slot DVD player. I had to pull over and extract the CDs with my tweezers. Miraculously, the DVD player still worked, but I learned an important lesson: I will never let Georgie play in the car while I'm unloading the groceries EVER again.

Isn't it against the rules for the Team Mom to be absent from Soccer team photos?!
