First day

Hank had his first official day of school today, and handled it like a pro. Why do I even get worried about these transitions for him? I always worry, and he always handles it fine. I totally underestimate him somtimes. I ran into one of Mike's co-workers there, who was dropping her son off for the first day of kindergarten. She got a little misty-eyed while we were talking, and I was fine until I saw her tearing up, and then I had to choke back the sniffles as well. We had a little moment there. I did take pictures but the name of Hank's school is on the sign that he is standing in front of so I don't want to post it here.

So his day went well, and Georgie and I had a good morning hanging out. That little Georgie just gets funnier every day. I spent half the morning searching for Hank's missing shoe, which I am sure that Georgie had hidden somewhere. He was totally into hiding things at our Maine house, but at least I knew where his hiding places were there. For instance, if I was missing one of my flip-flops, I would check in the warming drawer of the oven, and 9 times out of 10 it would be in there, usually with a few toys, a sippy cup, and other random items Georgie had collected and stashed. But he seems to have new hiding places here, and I haven't figured them all out yet. I have found a few things in the powder room trash can, but the shoe isn't there this time. I went through all the kitchen cupboards and the mudroom and the cabinets in the living room and it is nowhere to be found.

He is also going around pointing at everything and saying, "I see! I see!" So cute.

And on an unrelated note, my sunglasses have been missing since we arrived here. I figured they got thrown out in the post-road-trip-car-cleaning, but thought I'd give it a few weeks before shelling out $5.99 on new ones. So after two weeks of squinting and flipping my sun visor up and down, I broke down and bought my new pair at Target today. And then, about 10 minutes later, I found the old pair under the passenger seat in my car. And that, my friends, just about sums up the last 8 months for me.

Good for Henry! It's always easier on them than on us! It was hard for me yesterday too!

Silly George...I hope these aren't early traits of a "horder"! Just kidding!

You should have asked your mom where your sunglasses were! :-)
