The weather finally started to turn a little more fall-like today, so we celebrated with a trip to a little Pumpkin Patch just outside of town. For my Omaha friends, it was kind of like a waaaaay scaled-down Vala's. Petting zoo, stuff your own scarecrow, corn maze, etc. I got a lot of great shots with the camera since the weather was overcast - great lighting for the outdoor shots. Hank and Georgie's favorite part? The chickens! And both of the Grandpas had chickens as children, so I think it's in their DNA. Hank picked out a small pumpkin and begged us to let him carve it. I figured, what the hell, let him carve one now. Who says you can only carve pumpkins once during the Halloween season anyway? Then he begged to have it up in his room. "But Hank," I explained, "it's going to get yucky. I don't know if your room is the best place for it." Hank was upset. "But I LOVE it!" he said. So it's up in his room now. Any bets on how long before it's all shrivelly and disgusting?
