Pillow Perm

Georgie woke up from his nap yesterday with his hair a bit disheveled. Hank and I got a kick out of it.

Yesterday was Hank's last swimming lesson this session - I am amazed at the progress he made! He can now swim freestyle and sidestroke (okay, so its more like a dog paddle, who am I kidding) more than 10 yards without help or a flotation device, and he's awfully close to being able to do the same using the elementary backstroke. He can also hold his breath underwater for a really long time - I almost jumped out of my seat last night because he was under for so long that I thought he needed help. Then he popped up and smiled. I think I'm going to sign him up again in January and just let him take lessons year-round because he loves it so much.

Operation ByeBye Binky update: It's actually going pretty well. We've been without the bink during the daytime for almost a whole week now. The binkies stay in the crib and Georgie knows when we go into his room to get him out in the morning or after nap he has to throw the binky down before he can get out. Although yesterday he made a big production out of throwing the binky down, then clapped for himself but hurredly grabbed the binky and shoved it into his mouth again. I don't think so, Buster. But he's really handled it pretty well, we've seen a slight increase in fussiness but it seems to be limited to bedtime and right before naptime. I know we get to go through this again when it's time for him to say bye bye to the binky for good and I am not looking forward to it!

Oh, and here's Hank's Christmas list this year:

1. My own laptop ("For what?" I asked. "So I can check my email and do some work," he said).

2. A TV for my room

3. A TV for Georgie's room

Who is this kid? I shudder to think about what he's going to be asking for when he's 15!

So much for my diligent, following-the-AMA-guidelines of less than 2 hours of screen-time per day... all I have created is a kid that craves electronics. I told him that Santa Claus cannot bring electronic equipment. "Sure he can!" he said. "You said he's magical, right? So he can do it." My own words coming back to haunt me.

By the way, he is NOT getting any of those things. (My mom has an old laptop that she's giving us to use for him to play games on and visit preapproved sites like pbskids.org and such, since he gets grubbiness all over our computers when he uses them, but that's IT! A TV for his room, is he nuts?)

Hank's Christmas list is funny! Noah changes his every day, he has no idea what he wants, so I hope he likes what he gets!!

Georgie's hair AND faces are so cute. Sounds like Henry is a good swimmer like his mom!
