Hank and Mike went to a little ice fishing thing today, put on by a youth fishing organization. Hank had a blast - once they got there, a volunteer gave them instructions and some bait and they set out on the pond to try their luck. They didn't catch anything, but they did have fun, and more importantly, got free hot dogs, chocolate milk, and cookies in the little warming hut. One of the organizers told Mike that they were only expecting about 200 people and by noon close to 400 had already arrived - the weather was sunny and in the 30's today so I'm sure that is what caused the bump in attendance.
I realize I'm only updating about once a week now and I'm trying to get better about that, and I also need to post more about Georgie's milestones and general adorableness because I need this blog as a record. I seem to have overextended myself a bit with accepting too many invitations for playdates and dragging the kids to library storytime, plus I still seem to be running a lot of errands related to the move (registering cars, finding a pediatrician, making appointments, the list goes on and on and on), organizing things around the house, etc. By the time Mike gets home and I get dinner ready, cleaned up, kids bathed, bedtime routines completed, house picked up, I am ready to crash and blog updating is the last thing on my mind. I'm going to try to slow down a little bit this week. I was so worried about being bored and isolated when I moved that I kind of went too far and overscheduled us, so I'm going to try to cut it all back a bit.

I want to try snow shoes; it looks like fun!
Tell Henry and Georgie that Aunt Megs used her Barnes and Noble gift certificate today online - I bought two books that we are going to read for my History of American Education class. We have a large variety of readings for the class (our teacher put most of them on WebCT) and two of the books looked so good that I just bought them!
One is called "The Education of Blacks in the South" and the other was "Education for Extinction". (The second one is about Native Americans.)
I still have some money left on it though that I'll use for leisure reading purchases!
I love that Henry is getting to experience all the things that were normal to me growing up in Minnesota. Funny how different winter is with so many exciting outdoor things to do! I'm sure George will love it as well when he's old enough!
