More school, please

Hank actually asked if he could go to school today, and when I told him no, he was very disappointed. That just makes some of the stress of this move melt away, to know that your kid is happy and looking forward to going to school, playing with our new neighbor, etc.

With each passing day I feel more and more at home, although I miss my Omaha friends dearly and am trying to keep my expectations in check for friendships here, I keep reminding myself that I lived in Omaha for quite awhile before I felt like I had "real" friends and I already feel like I have met more people here in one month than I met my first two years living in Omaha, so I'm optimistic! I went to a "Mothers & More" meeting on Wednesday and met some really nice people there (even a former Iowan!) so I have lots of prospects for friendships. I kind of feel like I'm dating again, although instead of cruising the bar for a guy I'm cruising the Bangor Park & Rec Open Gym day for "mommy friends." Yikes. At least there's not alcohol involved in this kind of "dating," just Starbucks coffee and trying to make sure your kid doesn't do anything too terrible so you don't scare off the prospectives.

I'll post a longer update at the end of the weekend, just wanted to post something for this week and I promise a longer post will be here on Sunday!

WE MISS YOU TOO! I remember when I first moved to Omaha I had a playdate at the mall with someone my cousin "set me up with!" I was so excited, I remember talking to one of my friends in MN and saying, I think I might have a friend! It's hard in the beginning, but you'll make the friendships! Thank god you have kids to get you out there!
